Julie's Home Staging Tip of the Month

The 3 C's of Staging

You want the potential home buyer to mentally move into your home when they preview it and it's hard for them to do that if the home is dirty, full of clutter and contains unappealing colors.  You need to keep in mind that your home is turning into a product to market and so you need to look at it that way.  The way you live in your home and the way we market it are two different things.  The effort is well worth it and could mean making thousands of dollars more or less depending on if the home is staged or not staged.

You want your home Q-tip clean throughout so detail your home like you would detail your car.  Keep it clean for all showings.  That includes getting your windows washed and carpets cleaned before placing it on the market.  Cleaning doesn't cost much but takes effort on your part or you can hire a cleaning service.  It is well worth it and you need to do it before placing it on the market to get the most out of it.

You want your home to appeal to all buyers so the best way to accomplish that is with a simple neutral color scheme throughout the home.  You might enjoy a wacky pink flower-print in your bedroom but the new potential home buyer might not.  To get the best price for your home you want to appeal to all buyers not just some of them.

You want to sell your home so why not get ready to move and start packing now.  Clutter eats equity so the best way to attack clutter is to start packing now.  Again you want to do this before you put it on the market.

These are a few handy tips.  As my client, I will go through your home and give you more specific guidance on how to stage your particular home so we can sell it faster and for more money.  If you are thinking of selling your Park City home please contact me for more information.
